SPATHIPHYLLUM
|
| Spathiphyllum,
a member of the Araceae family, is commonly called the Peace
Lily, White Flag, or Snow Flower. One of NASA's top 10 "clean
air plants" that fights the "sick building syndrome", the
Spath has an exotic flower with lush tropical foliage. The Spath
is one of the most popular indoor low light plants as it even flowers
under low light situations. It blooms naturally between March to
September but with miracle of modern science some of the varieties can
be made to bloom all year. The plant likes to have moist soil and
when you forget to water it it will almost lay down on the top of the
pot as a message that it need water. There are some varieties that
will grow under water in fish tanks. Recently there has been a
rush for 4" Spath to put in a clear vase with all the dirt taken
off the roots. Then you add a fish and you have a fish and flower relationship
that actually works. However most people do feed the
fish. |
