| Introduced to the U. S. in the 1900, the Aglaonema or Chinese Evergreen has lived remarkably well in homes and offices. A member of the Araceae Family, it adapts to a wide range of conditions and low light levels. Many new hybrids have been introduced-all propagated from cuttings selected for their desirable traits. A very compact and neat plant, it is attractive grouped in beds of plants or as a single plant. The flowers are not attractive but the leaves come in different shades of green and can have spots or stripes in other shades of green or cream. Under 40 degrees most Aglaonema may have leaf discoloration. This plant is so hardy that it can grow in plain water with the additions of a drop of fertilizer once a month | |
